Our Soy Wax is grown in America and Processed in East Asia
Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After they are harvested, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. The left over bean husks are used as animal feed.
Our Rapeseed is grown in Europe
To extract the rapeseed oil, a process called cold pressing is used.
Cold pressing is the simple and traditional method of producing oil. The seed is simply pressed at a low temperature.
Our rapeseed oil is combined with soy wax which makes a beautiful candle wax that burns efficiently and effectively.
Fragrance oils are synthetic. They're created with a mix of aroma chemicals and natural ingredients like essential oils, extracts, and resins. Just one fragrance oil can be made up of 40-80 materials – luxury perfumes are often made with 5 times that number.
We source our fragrance oils from two major perfume houses in the U.K. which source their materials from all over the world. They both endorse Ethical Trading, which means their suppliers must adhere to good working and ethical standards.
Our fragrance oils are all covered by the IFRA (International Fragrance Association) code of practice. The Code covers the manufacture and handling of all fragrance materials, for all types of applications.
'For four decades, the IFRA Standards have set the boundaries for fragrance creation – ensuring that people can enjoy the art of perfumery with confidence.
The IFRA Standards ban, limit or set criteria for the use of certain ingredients, based on scientific evidence and consumer insights.' quoted from the IFRA website https://ifrafragrance.org/safe-use/introduction-enjoy-confidence
Pure Essential Oils
An essential oil is extracted from plant material by two main methods; by simple expression or pressure, as is the case with most of citrus oils, or by steam, water or dry distillation. The majority of oils such as lavender, myrrh, sandalwood and cinnamon are produced by steam distillation.
We source our essential oils from many different suppliers in the U.K and abroad.
